When I showed in in Providence, Rhode Island on a Thursday to explore the city a bit, I also took a 50-minutes boat cruise. That was a great way to learn more about the city and see it from the water, and it was also the first time I’d heard of Waterfire, the art event that happens every so often in the heart of the city. And, it was happening the very next Saturday! How could I resist that?! Short answer, I couldn’t!

Worcester Art Museum, MA
Another city, another fun museum to explore. This time around, we’re in Worcester, Massachusetts, home to Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI), a Triple-A minor league team (go, WooSox!), and the Worcester Art Museum, where an armored dog greets you as you begin your tour.
Paddle Time in MA
One of the most fun things I did last week was paddle on a little lake at Rutland State Park, north of Worcester, MA. In fact, it was so nice, we did it twice!
Shelburne Museum, VT
Let’s just start this post off by stating the obvious when it comes to the Shelburne Museum: these people had money. Like the kind of money that lets you design your dining room around four of the Claude Monet paintings you own. That kind of money. But, instead of collecting more Monets and Manets, they went in the opposite direction: steamboats, lighthouses, and lots of other Vermont treasures. If you think I’m kidding about the steamboat and the lighthouse, I’m not. Check out the cover photo at the top of this post!
Cruising on Lake Champlain, VT
Last Friday was an absolutely gorgeous day in Burlington, Vermont so it was also the perfect time to take a lunchtime cruise on Lake Champlain. It was like the sky and lake knew I was in need of some serious soul food, and, boy, did they serve it up!
