Sunday Serenity: Being Present
The leaves have been changing colors here in southern Virginia for the last few weeks and it’s been glorious to watch. Every day, another tree joins in the display, a quick change artist from green to more festive fall colors.
South Boston Speedway, VA
If you grew up with a Dad who built race cars in his spare time, was his own mechanic, and never, ever stopped loving a good drive or a good driver, then you’ll appreciate this post. My brother texted me this morning saying that I was only about 20 miles from South Boston Speedway, a short track (0.4 miles) with a storied history, from the Wood Brothers to Jeff Gordon. So after doing the laundry in town this afternoon, I aimed the car for South Boston.
Experiencing Ian from a Distance
Remember that late September hurricane that decimated parts of Florida? I do, even though I wasn’t anywhere near Florida. A hurricane weather system extends hundreds and hundreds of miles so even though I was in Virginia (north of Norfolk, on the southern tip of the Delmarva peninsula), I still got a fair bit of adverse weather.
More Longwood Photos
Since y’all liked the Longwood Gardens post so much, here’s a half-dozen or so photos that didn’t make it into that post. I really like them, so they’re getting their own little showcase right here.
