It’s been a good week here at Casa Breeze: Long walks on a windy beach, finding a photographic obsession, and publishing my (first) photobook. One plug for the book and then we’ll move on. I’m proud of these photos and so happy I can share them with people in hardcover, softcover, or ebook format (iPad or Kindle, but I hear iPad looks better). Click on the cover image below to jump to the bookstore page for it. (Disclosure: I get a small bit ($5) out of each purchase.) The Tree was the thing at Hunting Island State Park, down at…

Sunday Serenity: Bearing Witness
This stretch of beach here in South Carolina is far from empty: fallen trees, ragged stumps, and scattered limbs litter the sand. They are all mute witnesses to the devastation wreaked by two massive hurricanes in two years. At first glance, the beach is a mess. But take the time to walk among the fallen, and you begin to see the beauty in each one. We are all witnesses in this life. We witness our own stories, and those of our family and friends. We remember the moments: the jokes, that vacation gone bad, the wedding with a wonderful dance floor…

Weekly Update: Mar 21, 2018
It’s been a weird week: two thunderstorms and a tornado watch, as well as several bouts of rain. Who says South Carolina isn’t exciting? Not me! I spent the weekend finishing out my 8-day stay at Edisto Island State Park, where I stayed in the Live Oak campground. It’s a half-mile from the beach and about 2 minutes from some lovely trails and I found myself walking those more than the beach. This part of the coast is called the Low Country, and it’s full of roads like the one below. I love the trees, the moss, the whole vibe…
