Breathe in, breathe out. I don’t know about you, but I feel the difference in the world today, just seeing the year 2021 on my phone calendar and knowing that the last year is finally done. I went for a walk this morning to start the new year off on the right foot (yes, and the left one, too). I was hoping to see flowers but it’s just a bit too early for that in Gainesville at the moment. I did see this one nestled deep in a bush. It reminds me of myself, peering out of the shadows of…

52 Frames: The Fall Images
Note: Anyone can participate in 52Frames. The whole point, to me, is to look around you, see what you can use for the weekly challenge, and play with it. If you like taking pictures, whatever level you’re at, and you want a new year’s resolution that’s fun, sign up at 52frames.com. A Thanksgiving Memory
For Thanksgiving, my mother would buy a huge turkey, one barely able to fit into the big roasting pan and then squeezed into the oven. She’d set the alarm for the ungodly hour of 3AM to start her preparations for the big day: homemade stuff from scratch, her special cloverleaf rolls, and, of course, the star of the show, the turkey. She used slightly stale bread as the base, melted butter and I don’t even remember what else, but it smelled so good when she was making…
52 Frames: Catching Up
It’s been a while since the challenges inspired me. I guess I’m in kind of a slump, which could be either the challenge topics or the whole “living through 2020” thing. Or both. The Blue challenge was harder than it should have been. Blue skies, blue Alto, blue bowl, I tried them all and nothing caught my eye. Then I was driving back to the campground from an Amazon locker when I took a wrong turn and saw this cemetery. I pulled over and took a few shots, then played with it in Lightroom. I didn’t want the perky blue…
A Day in the Life
Yesterday was definitely NOT one of those oh, wow, being a vagabond is so cool days. For those of you who think my life is charmed, like being in an endless soft-focus instagram story of nomading around the country surrounded by good vibes and rainbow-hued unicorns, here’s the reality some days. 9:30AM – I’m packing up the site and setting up the rig for towing. One of the items on the setup list is to plug in the monitor for the rearview camera and the wireless brake controller, then check that both of them are working when the truck starts…
