Good news, I’m on the move again, so my posts will start to get more interesting now that I have new things to see and photograph. I did enjoy Gainesville, my new hometown, and its many parks. This is a shot from one of those parks last Friday. Between the trees and the palms, there’s a lot to love about Florida forests. There’s a lot to love about South Carolina, too, now that I’m back on the coast here. This was the Sunday night view as storm clouds started to roll in and high tide hit the marshlands. I had…

Weekly Update: Mar 7, 2018
This has been a week of contrasts, from the search for manatees in Crystal River (unsuccessful, due to the warm weather making them flee to the Gulf of Mexico), the end of vacation week (sigh) and the acquisition of a new (inflatable) kayak. Oh, and perhaps the best thing, a shiny new fan for my trailer. The trailer fan has been a bit flaky for months, start, stop, start, stop and never spinning for more than a few minutes at a time. Today, after three hours at the RV repair shop, I now have a new fan and it works…
Weekly Update: Feb 28, 2018
Wait, it’s already the last day of February? Whoa, that month went by kind of fast! This week is special because I’m on vacation with my niece, and we’re doing the tourist things in Florida and having a lot of fun and laughing a lot. One silly bucket list item checked off for me: Harry Potter and Hogsmeade, where I loved this sign: Best graphics for Orlando Islands of Adventure goes to Seuss Landing, where I read the book “Green Eggs and Ham” to my niece because she didn’t get that experience while growing up in Germany. And then I…

All good things must come to an end, and so my time at Huntington Beach State Park ended today, after 22 nights of not moving Breeze a single inch. It was my first time staying somewhere that long, and had its good points and bad. I got restless after two weeks, but I did get a lot done on the photo book (almost got the first draft of layout completed, yay!) and established a daily walking habit, thanks in part to friends challenging me via online contests. Having a beach three minutes away make walks easier, I will admit! Here’s…
Weekly Update: Feb 14, 2018
Still here in South Carolina, still walking on the beach every day, rain, clouds, or shine. Been a lot of clouds and overcast skies the last few days, making it feel more like a Seattle winter than I’d prefer. But today, the sun broke out after noon and everyone was out walking on the sand, soaking up that liquid Vitamin D. The cover photo for this post shows just how brilliant the afternoon turned out to be. But, what better weather than foggy and cold to tour Atalaya Castle, a private residence back in the day? Not a lot to…
