Still in Canada, still amazed by the beauty and diversity of the place. This past week was mostly on Prince Edward Island (PEI), finishing up my eight-day stay there with a beachside spot at Jacques Cartier Provincial Park. No hookups, but worth it to get so close to the surf and see the Gulf out my back window when I woke up every morning. And the beach itself was long stretches in both directions, which I enjoyed immensely in my daily walks. Just down the road, right at the turn off the highway into town, the most beautiful water spot….

Last Wednesday, I made the short, backroads drive down the Glooscap Trail from Truro to Five Islands, where there’s a nice provincial park right on the Bay of Fundy. And my site? Best view in the campground. Every time I looked out my window or my door, I was a very happy camper. I watched the tides go in and out for five days and the view never, ever got old. I went hiking down on the floor of the Bay at low tide, with Alto friends Kathy and Wayne. We met a painter in town for the Plein Air…

It’s been a busy week here in Nova Scotia. Lots of hiking at Blomidon, through forests lovely like this. The best hike? Cape Split, without a doubt. Standing on the edge of the cliffs, looking out and looking down were amazing experiences. And, yes, I am still fascinated by the Fundy tides. This is Halls Harbour at low tide, where the tidal range is about 40 feet. I also did a little beachwalking on the incoming tide at Scots Bay, and found these stubs of an old pier still holding on. On my way out of the Blomidon area, I…

It’s been a busier week than I thought, looking through the photos I’ve taken. (I have a filter in Lightroom that shows me the last 7 days of images and that’s where I start when writing the weekly update.) The cover photo is from a hike at Kejimkujik National Park. Five days was really not enough to explore this place, and next time, I hope for warmer weather so I can go kayaking, too. I moved to the South Shore, stopping first at Liverpool to pick up some genealogy papers my friend had found, and then made camp at Graves…

This week is all Nova Scotia, because I’m in love with this place. It’s a lot of different places, actually, so let’s begin. The photo at the top of the post is my camping spot just across the water from Digby. There wasn’t much of a crowd at this campground, so I had my own little patch of grass for the weekend. And with the Bay of Fundy tide show right out my window, it was a prime spot indeed. I drove down the Digby Neck Scenic Drive to Sandy Cove, a beach said to have sea glass at low…
