I’m a week and a half into the one-handed life, and it’s going okay so far. I been trying to use dictation on the Mac. I pause a lot more than it thinks I should, so everything becomes a half-sentence, making my one-handed typing mostly combining phrases and making periods. Weekly Update: May 31, 2017
As a solo act, I have wondered a bit the last year how I would handle a debilitating illness or injury. Now I am finding that out. Tripped while running on Memorial Day and dislocated my ring finger and badly bruised all the other fingers and palm; the thumb got off scot-free. I was lucky to be at a friend’s house for the long weekend, so I am extending my stay here until I am able to hitch up the trailer and do the basics to be on my own. From Nebraska to Kansas to Missouri, I’ve seen a lot of big sky, fallow fields, and thunderstorms. And now I know you can have a Tornado Warning, A Severe Thunderstorm Warning, and a Flood Warning all at the same time. I’m not sure I needed to know that but now I do. Weekly Update: May 17, 2017
tl;dr: Left Colorado, got windshield damaged and replaced, loved Nebraska campgrounds, currently trying to avoid tornados in Kansas. Longer version… Last Wednesday seemed great driving, all “blue highways” from Fort Collins into western Nebraska, ending at Lake Minatare State Park. Beautiful park, with a ton of waterfront electric sites, lots of trees, and a big lake. It wasn’t till Thursday morning that I discovered that great drive had also left me with a great chip and crack in Bella’s windshield. So my first “tourist” activity in Scottsbluff was a visit to the Safelite glass place, where we arranged the replacement to happen…
