Never have I ever… been in Arkansas. Not in a trailer, not in a car. Not in a plane or a train. So I didn’t quite know what to expect. Turns out I was pleasantly surprised at every stop in my 16 days going from west to east across the northern part of the state (aka the Ozarks).

Crystal Bridges Art Museum, AR
One of the great things about Walmart being based in Bentonville, Arkansas is that the Walton family has contributed so much to the culture of the city. Perhaps the crowning jewel is Crystal Bridges Art Museum, which (thanks to Walmart) is absolutely free to visit (although special exhibits may charge an entrance fee). Price Tower, OK
Now you might wonder why the Price Tower building in Oklahoma deserves its very own post. Or why I drove 2 hours through farmland and rolling hills to take an hour-long tour of it. Here’s why: this is one of the few skyscrapers designed by Frank Lloyd Wright and then built. As with all FLW buildings, everything inside and out was his design or collaboration.
Bob Dylan Center, OK
By chance as I was traveling last month, a few people mentioned the new Bob Dylan Center that was opening in Tulsa Oklahoma in mid-May. Much to my surprise, it was already open by the time I was near Tulsa *and* I could score a Sunday afternoon ticket. So let’s see what’s up with the Dylan archives…
