A few months ago, I started reading the blog posts of Irene North, a writer in Nebraska. She’s very articulate, passionate, and smart, and I find myself nodding often as I read her writing. Two days after the SCOTUS decision to overturn Roe v. Wade, she published an amazingly thorough compilation of information about abortion, from history to access to digital privacy, and how to support different organizations. I was inspired by Irene’s two posts, the one last Friday and then Sunday’s, to write my own Speaking Out post on Sunday, and I borrowed (OK, stole) the black and white graphic in my post from her Sunday post.
Long-winded way of saying if you want more information, background and history, and suggestions for how to help, go read Irene’s post. Click on the image below (my favorite from that post) to jump to the article. And while you’re at it, think about subscribing to her website. Support female writers, especially those with strong viewpoints who aren’t afraid to speak their truth. We need more of that these days.
Obviously, without the right of women and men to make decisions about our own bodies, there is no democracy.
Thank you Annie! I just checked out and subscribed to Irene’s newsletter.
Thank you, Annie. <3
Way to go, Annie! When rights are being stolen, every blog and website has a role to play in the fight for freedoms’ return.
Thank you.
I am flattered you enjoy my posts and you’re going to make me cry.
Also, I swiped that photo from somewhere on the internet, so I guess we’re all thieves. 🙂
I like to think we’re all just sharing info in this situation 🙂 I do try to give credit to sources, especially when it shines a light on new voices like yours. Keep writing!
Thank you for posting this. I did look at Irene’s post. Excellent info. I am a lady of a certain age (okay, older than chit!) and I relate totally to the woman in the image holding the sign that says “I cannot believe I still have to protest this shit.” That sums it up for me.
Thanks for the links, Annie. Valuable information there.
