Maybe it’s the days of rain or that fact that the website hasn’t had a facelift in four years, but something clicked yesterday and I got to work. Cleaned out boring categories, simplified the menus at the top, and started thinking about what I can write next. So without further ado, enjoy the newly reorganized website!
- Journal: Where I write about whatever I want.
- Vagabond Life: Living on the road, solo female style.
- Trailer Life: From Alto articles to trip planning and what I use and recommend, this is good stuff.
- Adventures: Find cool places to visit, from back roads to US states and Canadian provinces.
- Photography: All the photos, and also essays, books, and free photo downloads.
Problems?
If you find a broken link, I’d really appreciate you dropping me a comment with the URL or the post you were trying to get to. I’m my own QA tester and I’m sure I missed a few links while moving stuff around.
Suggestions?
And if you have questions or ideas for future posts, please add a comment to this post with your suggestions. I’m always up for answering questions about vagabonding, trailer, and life on the road.
Love change, fear staying the same.

This looks good! One suggestion I have – if you’re ever bored and feel like taking on another tech project – is to add a travel map to the site. I notice people hit my maps page a lot. I think they use it for routing info as well as linking to posts for a particular place. And I do the same thing with other blogs. If I know we want to spend a couple weeks in Southern California, I’ll pull up some of my friend’s blogs to see what route they used to get from Point A to Point B and see where they camped and what they did along the way. It saves me a lot of planning time and give me some inspiration for where to go and what to do. Just an idea… Hope you’re doing well!
I had a map plug-in but they discontinued it. What do you use? (I seriously envy your maps page, I love it!) I keep thinking about it but frustrated at trying to find a good plug-in. Help?
Hey!
I use Google maps, but that’s only because Kevin was able to force it to work when he set up my blog. But, it has a lot of issues, not least of which is that it stops working at random times – for about a week every 2-3 months, my map just disappears from my site. Here’s a post from Nina at Wheeling It where she explains the problems with Google and explains why she uses UMaps instead.

And here’s the how-to post she refers to about how to create a map using uMaps:

My advice would be to follow this advice and start from scratch with this program. A bunch of different bloggers use it, so I imagine it’s a pretty decent program.
Thank you so much, especially for putting the links in there! I’m now going to be obsessed with map-making (because I love maps in general) for a while. Stay tuned…
I wish I knew how to do stuff like this! I betyou’re excited to have it cleaned up. I’m off now to read about your solo RV life…it’s also something I’d like to do someday.
