Like it’s a surprise to anyone after all these years that I love the beach. East coast or west, doesn’t matter. It’s the beach that counts. After seven and a half years (exactly, as it turned out), I’ve put my trailer to rest for four months and rented a beachfront pied-à-terre for the winter.

Sunday Serenity: In the Moments
I’ve been staying at the beach (but that’s another story, or post) and enjoying the moments as I notice them, one by one.
Fall Camping at Watauga (TN)
It’s not a huge campground and the cell signal ranges from abysmal to non-existent, but that’s not why people come to Watauga Dam campground in eastern Tennessee. It’s all about the views, everywhere you turn.
Fall at Roan Mountain, TN
There are few places I enjoy as much as Roan Mountain, for a couple of reasons: beautiful mountain setting, good trails in the park and a short drive to the Appalachian Trail, and free, fast wifi (yes, I like my creature comforts!)
Mountain Flowers
It’s definitely fall weather in the mountains of eastern Tennessee, but that’s the subject of another post. This one is all about the garden cosmos that are blooming on roadsides and in wild gardens next to clapboard houses and weathered mobile homes.
