If the first year or so of my vagabond life was all about hitting the road and seeing the sights, this year was all about connecting with friends and meeting new ones.
I stepped out of my comfort zone twice in a big way, for a writers conference in March and an RV women-only gathering in May, and both gave me friends and laughter and connections that continued long after the weekends were over.

I camped with friends more this year, from South Carolina and North Carolina to Tennesee and Indiana, and to Colorado, British Columbia, and Washington.

In Pennsylvania this summer, I gathered with one of my oldest tribes, a motley crew of runners and ex-runners who found each other on the internet back when listserv was the thing.

I’m grateful I had the time and energy and means to see so many of you this year. It’s been the highlight, many times over, of my 2019.
That’s the beauty of the Internet… we’re no longer tied to our communities by physical connections.

Jane and I both feel connected to you. We enjoy your blog and wish for you happiness and contentment. May both of these occupy the same space for you. Peace.
Looking forward to seeing you soon. I’m impressed we’ve connected as much as we have with all that’s happened this year.
Love seeing you whenever you get the chance to swing through this area! Happy Thanksgiving every day!
I waiting your post every week
Ah, thank you, Christian! I try to post at least one time a week 🙂
I am thankful for your blog. Thank you 🙂
And I’m thankful for your comment, it was a sweet thing to read on Thanksgiving Day <3
Annie,
I found your blog as a search result on the Alto. I read all your past posts with much interest, as I plan to follow the same path in 8 to 10 years. With a few years of experience now under your belt, could you share your main expenses and budget surprises in a future post? How do I go about financial planning and budgeting?
And another personal question for Annie, and anybody following Annie – how many years are you planning to live the van lifestyle, or until what age approximately?
Your photographs are beautiful, and your writting is lovely. I am living adventurously through you for now! Thank you!
Ah, thanks for letting me know you’re new, Myriam, so welcome to my website! Your questions about financial matters are good and I’ve been tossing around ideas for a while on the subject, so now I’ve got a reason to go back to that and finish it off to post it. Stay tuned…
I don’t know how long I’ll do this, honestly. As long as it feels good and it’s what I want. I have definitely slowed down and taken more time to hang out with people, and have some regular stops so that I stay in touch with people and have places I can stay for longer than the standard 14 days most campgrounds limit you to when there. I tell people I never really planned my career either, no five year plan or anything like that, so I’m doing the vagabond life about the same way 🙂
It was a pleasure meeting you this year. Happy Thanksgiving!
