Gone from cubicle-land. Gone from 24/7 emails. Gone from the long-haul flights, the endless meetings. Gone from all of that, three years ago today.

This was me, on the ferry out of Seattle on August 19, 2016, after turning in my laptop, access badges (all four of them), and walking out the door of my last full-time job in high tech.
Two years ago, I was on Cape Cod, nursing a broken hand back to health and enjoying daily sunsets on the water.

Last year, I was in one of my happy places, paddling on the water in Tennessee and taking photos.

And today? Bella, the Breeze, and I are back in the Pacific Northwest, not far from where we started our rambling. I’ve not been back here since I left, so perhaps its fitting that I’m here now, celebrating three years as a mostly unemployed vagabond.

And, yes, Yvette, I love my life.
Me

I missed certain aspects of it, mostly some of my team members, our inside jokes, and the good work we did. But over time, I’ve transferred my energies to writing and photography, setting my own goals there and challenging myself to keep learning new things, whether it’s a new lens or diving into a new topic of study on my own.
Always fun to spot an unexpected Alto in the wild! 2021, it’s about time to start your countdown clock…
I love your life 2 :))))
I saw an Alto on HWY 108 near Donnell Lake/Sierra Nevada this weekend, gave me an extra boost 🙂
And I am looking forward to my vagabond life starting 2021!
Congrats, Annie on doing it your way!!
Good guess! Clark Fork of the Columbia River, going up from Missoula to Idaho. Beautiful country! And thanks for reading and leaving a comment. You’ll get where you want to go, keep your eyes on the prize.
Happy 3 year anniversary! Isn’t it great? ❤
Congrats, Annie! I really admire your vagabond ways. I feel like a novice after only 8 months! But like you, it’s been interesting and mostly fun.
I’m presently hanging out at the military campground overlooking the Straits on NAS Whidbey Island. I am thoroughly splurging for a very rare week with shore power and hot showers – woo-hoo! It’s not quiet though, what with navy pilots zooming low hither and yon! All the best. walt
I almost recognize that river in the last photo–either the Snake or the Columbia. I’m leaning more towards the Columbia. Congrats from southwest Idaho! In about five years,I hope my life is where yours is now. We shall see. Safe travels!
What an auspicious day! So good to mark these milestones. To me it feels very different to land in your life… you “happen” in your life… vs having life happen to you. Very empowering. Rock on sister!
Stop by Anacortes on your way south!
You had any problems leaving work behind? I’m trying..,but occasionally miss the work related issues.
A toast to three years of retirement, travel, writing, photography and Alto living! Best wishes for lots more.
