Throwback Thursday: Four Years of Jun 6th

Posted on June 6, 2019August 30, 2020 by Annie

One of the fun things about having all my photos in a Lightroom Library is that I can sort them (and search them) by date. I thought it would make a fun post to see where I was on Jun 6th every year since I picked up my Safari Condo Alto 1743.

In 2016, I was still hanging around the Seattle area, finishing out my job and camping in local parks. This was Dash Point State Park, where I stayed 3 times that summer. And, fun fact, everything in this photo except the Alto is stuff I no longer own. I knew I had changed up a lot of equipment but hadn’t realized literally everything is different now!

2016: Just five weeks into my time as an Alto owner and full-timer.

By 2017, I had scoured the west coast and the southwest and was making my way east when I broke my hand. So June 6th of 2017 found me in Terre Haute, wandering the downtown area while waiting for the follow-up doctor appointment that would either free me to go on my way or tell me I needed immediate surgery. Lucky for me it was “go on” so I went on down the road, got the cast removed a month later in Lancaster, PA and spent the summer doing PT.

2017: An old clock in downtown Terre Haute.

2018 found me even farther east, all the way to Blomidon in Nova Scotia. It was a grand tour of some of the Maritimes and my little trailer did well in the winds that buffeted this hillside camping spot. The view was worth it. This was part of my eight weeks in Canada and besides enjoying it thoroughly, it made me want to go back and I’m already working on that.

2018: Bella and the Breeze do Blomidon.

And now, I’m camping out in the spacious driveway of friends in Southern Virginia while I get a bit of electrical work done on the trailer and some time to reorganize my trailer and socialize myself with the locals. With every new back road, I am amazed at the density of trees, flowers, birds, and wildlife. It’s a feast of greenery and I can’t seem to take enough pictures of all of it.

2019: The driveway is slanted, the Alto is level. Honestly!

Just for fun, I made a map of the four locations and put it as the cover photo on this post. Yep, pretty spread out, from one side of the continent to the other and two in the middle. I wonder where June 6, 2020 will find me!

And then there is the most dangerous risk of all — the risk of spending your life not doing what you want on the bet you can buy yourself the freedom to do it later.

You may not “own” your first year items any more but your blue chair is here waiting for you to visit it!
