We’re all evolving, aren’t we, to something better or going in the other direction. A friend asked me yesterday how I had evolved of the last almost-two-years of vagabonding, and it was an interesting way to ask the question of “how have I changed?” since I started this phase of my life.
I don’t have any easy answers, but I’m thinking about about it. Two years seems like a long time in some ways, but sometimes it feels like it’s gone so quickly. Time slips away and I can’t get it back.
I’ve just finished reading a book called Deep Work (thanks, Scott, for the pointer) and one of the big points the author makes is how we choose to spend our time. Do I spend my minutes and hours surfing the web and watching TV shows when I could be writing or hanging out with friends? Do I have goals for my activities, or do I just drift along?
It made me realize — not for the first time — that focusing on what I do with my minutes and hours adds up to accomplishments, or not. Small steps, taken repeatedly, lead to goals. I see it in my photography, with the images so much better than they were two years ago. Now I’m thinking where else I have evolved, and where I want to go in the next few years. Interesting questions, indeed. (Thanks, Vald, for the question that started me down this path.)
Without leaps of imagination or dreaming, we lose the excitement of possibilities. Dreaming, after all is a form of planning.

Well said, and thank you sharing the idea…and photos!
I love the three images that you selected Annie for this week’s entry. From a road that leads to faraway views to a trail inside of a beautiful forest to a beautiful detail of on-the-ground treasures. From fields of green to golden images, each image richer and more detailed. Perhaps these three images form a piece of an answer to your friend’s excellent question?
Ah, you figured out my photo theme, Vida! I was wondering if anyone would notice 🙂 I often use Sunday Serenity as my chance to make images mean more than just pretty pictures.
Amen, sister (yeah, what she said) 🙂
Annie in love with all of your quotes. If you don’t mind me asking, would you share where you find them. Thanks.
Thank you, I am happy you love them. I have so much fun finding one that fits my post and mood! Honestly, I google key words from what I am writing and then add the word “quotes” to it. Sometimes I look at the “images” returned and sometimes the “all” especially if there is a goodreads link. Amazing how many quotations there are in the world!
We need to catch up, I miss talking to you. This week, or next weekend?
