I scribble words onto the screen, I capture the images I see, I look for beauty in everyday life. I’ve been a sailor, a project manager, a tech writer, a programmer, and since May 2016, I have been a vagabond traveling in a 17-foot travel trailer.

Weekly Update: May 9, 2018

Catching up on two weeks worth of travel, as I’m steadily making my way up the East Coast and towards Canada. Spent a few days in Pennsylvania, where Breeze got a new set of tires. It has to be good weather as they can’t put the trailer into their service bays, so they do the tire changing outside. I driveway surfed with my friends, Peg and Larry, she of the fantastic gardens and this time around, the tulips were on show. From there, it was a one-night stand in the Poconos, where Spring has so far not yet appeared but…

Sunday Serenity: Reflections

Posted on May 6, 2018May 6, 2018 by Annie

A scene can be mundane when I look at it straight on, but its reflection changes everything. It can make the view seem mysterious or even magical. It definitely changes the way I think about that scene. In the image below, the line of bare trees intersected by a flash of green look like a reflection at first glance. My eyes saw it as that, but…

Washington DC

Posted on May 4, 2018April 2, 2019 by Annie

We hear a lot about Washington DC these days, but whatever your politics are, this city is more than that. The buildings are a reminder of the ideals we hold true as a nation. Walking by them is not something I can ever do lightly, no matter how many times I see them. Decisions that affect our lives are made voted on under that white dome, the home of the House and Senate chambers. Last time I was here, it was mostly hidden under scaffolding; this time it gleamed in the bright sunshine and I felt more optimistic just seeing…

Weekly Update: May 2, 2018

Posted on May 2, 2018November 24, 2019 by Annie

On the occasion of the two-year anniversary of picking up my Alto 1743 trailer, this week’s update is a look back at the last two years of being in love with my tiny home. This was me on May 2, 2016 at Safari Condo, with Denis, the guy who put up with my nerves and questions and worries during the 15 months of waiting for pickup. And honestly, everything he told me to get for the kind of camping I thought I would do? It all worked out. I love my Alto setup, and wouldn’t change any of the options…

Weekly Update: April 25, 2018

Posted on April 25, 2018April 25, 2018 by Annie

I’m moving right along towards Canada this week, from Virginia to Maryland to Delaware. Kind of exciting, those last two states, because I’ve not camped in them before so I finally get to put some new stickers on my US map. Yay! While Virginia Beach was nice, it was windy about 90% of the time, so when it came down to crossing the Chesapeake Bay, I was pretty happy that half of the crossing is a bridge and the other half is a tunnel. Or, more accurately, two tunnels and two bridges. From there, it was off to the races….
