NM Museum of Space History

Posted on February 24, 2022November 30, 2022 by Annie

Way up on a hill on the north end of Alamogordo, you’ll find the New Mexico Museum of Space History. I’ve been to Cape Canaveral, the Smithsonian space museums, and the Seattle Museum of Flight, so I wasn’t sure how this place would compare. To be honest, I wasn’t expecting much. Then I stepped into the elevator and suddenly I was in the Space Shuttle!

Sunday Serenity: Still

Posted on February 20, 2022November 30, 2022 by Annie

Every night, as the sun sinks behind the Organ Mountains to the west, I stand still and watch how it lights up this one tree.

In an old armory building just off the main street of Deming, New Mexico, you’ll find the Luna Mimbres Museum. I thought I was going to learn about the indigenous Mimbres people, but I couldn’t have been more wrong. This is one amazingly strange and wonderful museum, as you’ll see…

Cold Surprise in New Mexico

Posted on February 9, 2022November 30, 2022 by Annie

This is the third time in five years I’ve spent part of the winter in New Mexico, and it’s been – by far – the coldest one yet. I’m not alone in thinking this, though. My fellow campers have said much the same thing in our discussions the past week about how we fared in the cold. And by cold, I mean 15F (-9F) four nights running. Yikes… How did my Alto do?
