A few months ago, I started looking at the ideas I had for traveling around in 2022. And that’s when I realized my ideas weren’t going to work, it was just too much driving and too many miles, and so I started thinking how to change things to do less of both.
This blog title should actually be “critters UNDER the hood” but it doesn’t sound as cool. I’m here to tell you that actual critters under the hood of hour vehicle are not cool. Not at all…
I’ve been thinking a lot this winter about life: where I’ve been, where I am now, and where I want to go. Not in the physical sense, but in the “I can do anything I want, so what do I really want?” kind of questions. Winter in the southwest is a good time for that kind of reflection. Everything is quiet, hollowed out, waiting. Me, too.
So far, 2022 for me has been about visiting local museums that are a bit off the beaten track. No Met or Getty for me. Today’s feature is the Tularosa Basin Museum of History, in the small city of Alamogordo, New Mexico. I’m kind of falling in serious like with museums run mostly by volunteers, where the exhibits are labors of love and the history is a hodge-podge of old odds-and-ends and interesting stories.
… in one post. OK, it’s probably not everything but it probably covers 90% of what I’ve learned over the last 5+ years.
