Orphans of the Fall

Posted on December 4, 2022December 6, 2022 by Annie

I’ve been trying to catch up on moving photos from iPhone (my main camera these days) to Lightroom, where I separate them into year/place folders.

And, as always, there are some that didn’t make it into earlier blog posts that I really like, so here’s another round of random photos…

This broken and abandoned sand bucket on a deserted beach at Kiptopeke State Park on the southern tip of the Delmarva Peninsula caught my eye. Windswept dunes, and a child’s toy left behind made me realize summer was long gone and fall was itself slipping away.

The sunset view from my campground at Goose Point Park in Southern Virginia was just perfect one night. I watched till the pinks and purples slid into dark blues and then blacks and still wanted more.

While I was waiting for the tow truck to come deal with my flat tire, I took some shots of the cemetery next to the church parking lot where I was stopped. Not every day that a flat tire leads to such an interesting place! For the record, this was just outside Greenville, South Carolina.

It’s always a good photo day when I have water and light to play with, so my one-night stay at Laura Walker State Park in southern Georgia was pretty perfect.

Never stop wandering into wonder.

Haha, that’s a great interpretation of “moving photos” — never thought of it that way! Between year 3 of Covid, election season, and the holidays, it’s a wonder more people aren’t losing their sh*t on a regular basis. Hang in there, Luanne, 2023 is coming!

Hmm, Adobe says LIghtroom Classic works with Ventura. I am running Monterey (one back) because I don’t upgrade my OS very often 🙂 Here’s Adobe’s official statement: https://helpx.adobe.com/lightroom-classic/kb/lightroom-classic-and-macos-ventura.html#ventura-known-issues (the known issue is with Nikon tethering). It does say you have to be on LR Classic 12, which i just upgraded to, and it creates a new v12 LR catalog, all seems OK so far. I’ll do more digging before I move up to Ventura, because I haven’t liked any LR alternatives I’ve tried in the past.

Beautiful orphans, but as usual, I key in on the “moving from phone to Lightroom.” Heads up, I got a new computer and the new version of Mac OS no longer supports Lightroom Classic! I am lost trying to use Bridge and Photoshop and either have to start binging on tutorials or go back to using Photos.

My attention span is waning during the holidays. I got as far as the first half of your first line (“I’ve been trying to catch up on moving photos …”), then spaced out and started looking at the pictures (obviously all I’m capable of at the moment.) Anyway, I was thinking, geez, these really are “moving photos”. That said, when I read the phrase “moving photos” for some reason I was expecting your post to contain videos. Despite my muddled state, I still enjoyed this post. That’s said, I wouldn’t use it as a recommendation of any substance. Apparently, I’m bringing my own reality wherever I go these days. Oleas, party of one.
