Oh, it’s a damp, dreary day here on the western shore of the Chesapeake, at a tiny campground in Virginia. I was looking through my photos from the past month or so and decided it is the perfect day for sunflowers.
My Lancaster friend, Peg, and I found a field of sunflowers one afternoon a few weeks back and had fun taking photos. I was trying hard to get a flower with a bee on it, so that I can submit a photo to the NY Times Spelling Bee when they ask for submissions.
Honestly, there are few things more happy-looking than a field of sunflowers under blue skies and puffy white clouds.
A sunflower field is like a sky with a thousand suns.

As the nip of fall settles with digits in the 40s, seeing these sunflowers warmed my heart and left sunshine smiles on my face. Thank you, Annie.
❤️❤️❤️
Can’t wait to see your photo one morning when I log in to play Spelling Bee. Keep us posted if you know a date, but I’m a very consistent player, so I should see it if, er, when it happens.
I have to wait till they ask for more submissions, not sure how often they ask for new photos…
Wow. Did you stand on a ladder to get above them?
No, I just held the phone over my head as high as I could. There were a lot of people taking photos because it was so easy to get a good shot!
It’s sort of surprising to see so many sunflowers that they lose their individuality in the distance.
Just what I needed this morning. Thanks!
You are right Annie. I’m happy now just looking at your delightful photos of sunflowers!
Gorgeous!
