I’ve had these three images sitting in a folder on my desktop, just waiting to be used somewhere but they never quite fit into a post. So I’m giving them their own spotlight. Not many words to read today, just images to enjoy for a few minutes.
The image above is a marshy area at Huntington Beach State Park. Most people don’t even notice this view, hurrying down the path and across a narrow wooden bridge to the beach. Me, I look at it every time because the light can be amazing, as it was on the day I took this shot.
The image below makes me smile, remembering the paddles I did with friends at Hamilton Branch State Park in South Carolina. My site had a perfect little beach for launching and I used it a lot that trip. I was making dinner when I realized the light had changed and so I grabbed my iPhone and captured the moment. Five minutes later, all that pink had vanished.

It’s hard to realize just how insanely green and densely wooded southern land can be in the spring. This was a walking trail at James River State Park in Virginia, straight out of camera, no edits or bumping up the color. It was so green and so lush it was hard to see anything else.

Holding on is believing that there’s only a past; letting go is knowing that there’s a future.

It definitely got better the next day, was pretty intense for about 48 hours.
Yes, sometimes people see a theme in the photos I pick and I didn’t till they pointed it out!
These are SO good. I grinned as I saw the first one unfold when I scrolled down…and then all that pink with the two kayaks, that was stunning, and made me wish I had camped at that site. So perfect. I’m sure you didn’t want to pack up and leave it…and all that green in the 3rd shot. So stunning. I LOVE when I’m in the woods and the light is green. I often have images I’d like to share but don’t quite fit into a post. Sometimes I write a post unrelated to the images and just tell people at the end (I’m sure they’re confused) that the two, the writing and the images, weren’t meant to be related. Sometimes people find relationships there that I never saw. It’s kind of fun.
About 2pm, the blue skies showed up and the smoky air was all south of me. Yay!
Someone needs to paint picture #2. It’s perfect. Hope you can breathe where you are today.
Just gorgeous, Annie!
lovely photos — you certainly have the eye for great compositions, great light, and color!
