After Chicago, I stayed with my friend on Cape Cod for several days, enjoying the winter weather and seeing some actual snow on the ground (which melted within a day). As always, my favorite thing to do on the Cape is walk along the beaches, so that’s pretty much all the photos I took!
It was way colder walking the beaches in January than when I was last here in September. But the light, the sound of the water meeting the sand and rocks, the smells, all of those were the same. For me, there’s nothing like being close to water, whether it’s beach, lake, or stream.
Getting from the Cape back to Gainesville, FL was a series of stops and starts. First, a ride to the bus (thanks, Peg!) and then that bus into Logan airport. One night at an airport hotel, one last lobster roll (well worth the price!), and then two flights to get all the way home. Just before that bus from the Cape dove into the tunner to Logan, I caught a glimpse of Boston and snapped a quick photo. A part of my heart will always see this skyline and feel this city as home.
Where we love is home – home that our feet may leave, but not our hearts.
