2019: Begin Again

Posted on January 1, 2019August 30, 2020 by Annie

Some people pick a word for the year. Mine for 2019 is YES. As is say YES to opportunities, to challenges, to new adventures and the undiscovered country. Some people make goals; I do intentions. My intentions are few: Photograph trees, a year-long photography project from the mind of David Du Chemin. The end result will be 10-12 images that are the essence of “tree” from my year of focusing on them (pun intended). Expect to see trees popping up a lot in my online images. And in my 52 Frames weekly images. Soak up history and connect it to…

2018: One Last Thing…

Posted on December 31, 2018August 30, 2020 by Annie

As I finish up my look back at 2018, there’s one last thing to do… THANK YOU FOR READING! I love it when you leave comments and let me know how much a post meant to you or how a photo brought back a memory for you. I enjoy sharing my travels and can’t wait to get back on the road in a few weeks. Stay tuned, the 2019 adventures are almost here! Security is mostly a superstition. It does not exist in nature, nor do the children of men as a whole experience it. Avoiding danger is no safer…

2018: Two Coasts

Posted on December 30, 2018August 30, 2020 by Annie

I was born and raised on the west coast and lived 20 years on the east coast before migrating back “home” at the turn of the century. Wherever I’ve lived, it’s never been far from a big body of water. And by far, I mean less than an hour’s drive, and usually much, much less. Best is walking distance, like the 11 years I lived just a 5-minute walk away from this beach. As I travel, I find myself drawn to water, whether it’s an ocean, a lake, a river, or a reservoir. There’s something about the light and air…

2018: Three Moving Moments

Posted on December 29, 2018August 30, 2020 by Annie

As I grow older, I find moments are often more complicated than just one emotion. Something can be amazing and yet troubling, sad and yet with an element of celebration. All three of these 2018 moments come with such mixed emotions. April: The First Flight Standing where the Wright brothers took of for each of their four flights, then walking down the narrow runway to where each landed made me realize how far aviation has come since that day in December, 1903. A hundred years later, I thought nothing of spending 14 hours in a metal tube every month or…

2018: Four Fun Things

Posted on December 28, 2018August 30, 2020 by Annie

Today’s countdown to 2019 looks back at four times I thoroughly enjoyed myself in 2018. There were so many, it was definitely hard to choose so I ended up choosing the photos that made me smile the most remembering those moments. March: Sina Comes to the US My niece Sina did a world-tour type of trip this year and her first stop was a week in Florida with me. As always, that girl makes me laugh a lot she and makes everything more fun, from eating breakfast at a Waffle House in Orlando or seeing her first alligator in the…
