Wow, last update of 2017, and, as might be expected, it’s full of family and friends and all good things of the holiday season.
Hung out with friends in Pasadena, met the new baby, who is, of course, totally adorable (honorary aunthood confirmed), and even had a little birthday party for mom-to-be (who’s due any day now!). Hung out with nephew and wife and two kids with pizza in Fontana, remembered that three year olds never stop moving and mostly run everywhere!
Saw The Last Jedi in 3D with a recliner seat. Two thumbs up! No spoilers.
Saturday was the sole trailer move of the week, a short 70-minute drive up the 15 to Victorville. The Cajon Pass (almost 4200 feet) was a bit of a workout for Bella and Breeze after sitting around the trailer park for 6 nights but we summitted it just fine. Then we set up for four nights of driveway surfing.
The rest of the week was family time: nephew and wife, sister, and second nephew flew in from Denver, arriving early Christmas morning (like 1:45AM early, but it’s all good because he made it). Sunsets in the high desert are usually good, and one night was especially lovely behind this bare tree.
A Harry Potter puzzle bedeviled me much of the visit, but with the persistence of my nephews, we finally got it done about 10PM last night. I get obsessive about jigsaw puzzles, and usually don’t start them because I know I can’t walk away until all the pieces are in place!
Today, I’ve started an eastbound leg. Way, way, way east. As in Florida. Expect a few weeks of weekly travelogue updates. Tonight’s stop in Quartzsite has a beautiful view, which I am enjoying very much. After almost a month of crowded parks and suburban scenery, it’s good to be back in the wide open spaces of the desert. And there’s a greenish hummingbird that seems obsessed with my trailer so I’m enjoying that little guy, too.
Annie, will you make that bare tree Sunset available in your photo gallery sometime? No rush, if you can do it at all… all your photos are stunning in their own right, but that one stole my heart. Eastward ho! Will look forward to your weekly updates as you move through.
Hi, Sue! Thanks for the nudge to update my galleries on Smugmug 🙂 That tree photo is here now: https://acwynn.smugmug.com/SkyWorld/i-WrR2Sbj/A as are a few other new ones. And, yes, eastward ho, although hanging in New Mexico a few days after the new year to avoid the predicted freezing lows in Texas, yikes, that’s too cold.
