(Flat Emma insisted on writing today’s story. Annie typed it because Flat Emma doesn’t type very well).
Today I had a busy day!
I slept well my first night in my new home. And once, when I woke up and it was still dark, I remembered to look for the Space Needle and then I knew where I was and I wasn’t scared.
I had fun today with Annie. She woke me up really fast so we could run to the bus because she forgot she had a meeting at her office. She had to run up a big hill to catch the bus, and it’s a good thing I was folded up in her bookbag, because she ran really fast. She said we were going to miss the bus if we didn’t hurry!
I think the real Emma would have been able to run even faster than Annie, but my legs are paper and I can’t run at all. I was happy to stay in the bookbag too, because it was kind of cold outside and I don’t have a jacket.
I think I fell asleep on the bus because I don’t remember the ride!
While Annie was in meetings most of the day, I found some cool toys on her desk and I played with them for a while.
She has a model of the space shuttle and a tiny little model of the Mars Rover is named Curiosity. She told me she saw it launch to Mars on a big rocket! Then she showed me a picture of the rocket taking off. Wow!
A little dog named Skittles came by and we tried to take a picture with him. But he was more interested in trying to bite my shoe!
So the picture isn’t too good. But he’s a cute dog anyways!
I didn’t know you could bring your dog to the office, but Annie says lots of people do it in Seattle. It’s one more reason why Seattle is such a fun city.
Imagine if you could bring your dog to school!? Wow, that would be fun! We probably would spend all day petting the dogs and not learning cool stuff so maybe the dogs should stay at home.
In the afternoon, we went down to the break room, where you can get water and coffee and see a whole bunch of Seattle. That room is so cool! It has huge windows from the floor all the way to the ceiling! And a little shelf that was just the right size for me to sit on!
I think I am already used to being up so high because I could look down and it didn’t scare me at all today. I saw the Space Needle and some construction cranes and more really tall buildings. Annie says they’re different from the ones I saw yesterday because we’re on the other side of the building right now.
I asked her how many tall buildings Seattle has and she said she didn’t think anyone had ever counted them. Silly people, that would be fun to count them all!
We were going to walk home and take lots of pictures, but it started to rain. And I do NOT like rain! (Can you guess why I don’t like rain?) So we took the bus all the way to the grocery store. I kind of like the bus but it’s very bumpy!
I didn’t take any pictures inside the grocery store. It looks pretty much like the grocery store in Osceola so it wasn’t very exciting.
Right outside the grocery store, I saw these flowers! They were so pretty I wanted to pick them all, but Annie said that we have to leave them there for everyone to enjoy. So we took a picture of me instead. I like this picture a lot!
Then it started to rain again, so Annie tucked me safely into her bookbag and we went home.
I still haven’t seen the outside of where she lives, but she says we can see that later. All I know right now is that she lives on the 8th floor.
Can you imagine a house so tall it has 8 stories? Wow, I didn’t know houses could be that big. She says I will be surprised when I finally see the outside of her house. I can’t wait! Here’s a picture of me in the elevator. Her house has an elevator and we get to ride it every day! I like that a lot! And she lets me push the buttons to go home. Her button is number 8.
Now we’re going to eat dinner and she’s going to read me a story called Wheedle on the Needle. Yay, I love stories and reading!
