For my last Sunday in Denver, and my last full day with Annie, we decided to do a little bit of everything! Let me tell you all about it…
First, we drove to a big parking lot under the freeway. I had no idea where we were going, but Annie said I would really, really like it. We went into a big building and this is what I saw:
We were at an Alpaca show!! I had never seen an Alpaca, but now I love them. They are sooooo furry! This is Annie’s friend, Lisa, who owns an Alpaca farm, called Rockstar Alpacas. She’s been raising them for several years and some of them have won awards at the show, like this one.
Meet, Jay, another friend, who was helping Lisa out at the show. He was taking this Alpaca to be sheared. They have wool, like sheep do, and in the spring, they make sure to shave off the fur (the wool) so that the Alpacas stay cool in the summer (and start growing a new coat!).
It takes three people to shear an Alpaca because they try to get most of the wool off in one big piece.
See, they did it!
When they are done, the Alpaca looks so skinny!
Alpacas like to stay in groups, so this one was not happy to be on her own. When Jay put her back in the corral, she sniffed all her friends and then she started eating some food, so I think she was very happy.
But wait, we’re not done with Sunday yet! We got in the car and drove to Bob’s house, and then he drove us to Lyn’s house and then we all went to a baseball game!!! This is Coors Field, the home of the Colorado Rockies, a major league baseball team that is based in Denver.
And this is me, at the baseball game! It was my first baseball game ever and I had hot dogs and ice cream and I cheered every time our team, the Rockies, got a home run. They got a lot of home runs!
This is NOT a player for my team. He struck out. Bye, bye, Diamondback player! The Rockies won the game!
Here’s me with my cousin Bob and my Aunt Lyn, we were having a great time. And then, there was a big lightning storm and some hail, so we had to leave and drive home. But it was OK, I had a fun time with my family at the baseball game!
And now, there is only one adventure left to go in my Vagabond journey. You’ll see it next time!
