Why was it a weird Wednesday? Well, Annie said we were going to work today, but it was definitely not the same as going to work on Tuesday! First, we drove in a car and didn’t take the bus. Then, instead of going to her office, we went to the dentist’s office! He was very nice and he even told me I had no cavities, whew!
Then it was Annie’s turn to sit in the dentist’s chair and she was in it for so long that I fell asleep on the window sill while I was looking at the cars below me. I was on the eighth floor and the cars were whizzing by on the freeway so it was fun to look at them!
We did go in to Annie’s office and we had some meetings, but I didn’t take any pictures of me because I wanted everyone to work hard and not be distracted or get Annie in trouble. After lunch, Annie let me take a nap because she said a big adventure was coming and I might be staying up very late tonight. I could barely sleep I was so excited. What adventure could she mean? Were we going to the Space Needle? Or on a ferry? Or maybe we would go somewhere I can’t even imagine? Oh, it was hard to fall asleep but I must have, because the ring-ring-ring of Annie’s phone woke me up!
It’s time for today’s adventure, she said, as we stepped into the elevator. Guess who was waiting for us when we got out? AUSTIN!!! We were going to a baseball game!! This is us at Safeco Field, which is the baseball stadium here in Seattle. I think Austin looks really happy to see me!
I was a little confused because he was rooting for the Angels (see his Angels cap?!) but the Seattle team is the Mariners. HE said even though he goes to college in Seattle, he still roots for the Angels because he grew up in Southern California. Then I didn’t know WHO to cheer for because Annie is a Mariners fan. Hmm, I needed to figure this out!
The stadium was HUGE! And the big screen was HUGE! And the lights were very bright! And people were very loud! I felt very small. I thought maybe I didn’t like this baseball thing at all because it was too much of everything and I didn’t know what to do. I wanted to crawl into bed and hide but my bed was far away from here.
Then Austin let me sit on his lap and he started explaining how baseball is played and who was trying to hit the ball and everything. I felt better then and I started to enjoy the game. I even had a little popcorn and a Flat Eden-sized hot dog! I decided to cheer for BOTH teams! So every time someone hit a ball, I yelled “YAY!!!” really loud!
Before we left, Annie said we had to find the Mariner Moose, the team mascot. We walked all the way around the stadium to under the big TV screen and that’s when we found the moose! Here he is with me and Austin and Annie.
Austin and I are best baseball buds now!
I went to sleep with a big smile on my face because I liked today’s adventure a whole lot!
