What is an explorer? Someone who wants to find places no one has ever been and learn more about those places! Every women in this photo studies planets, from Mercury to Neptune and even beyond. They study those planets using automated spacecraft like Voyager 1 and Voyager 2 (the only spacecraft to visit Uranus and Neptune) or rovers like Curiosity on Mars.
Lots of women work at NASA on a lot of different things, exploring the Earth and the skies! You can read about what they do and how they started.

The DAWN mission team is exploring two asteroids, Vesta and Ceres. When you click on the DAWN link, look for the Flight Operations team, and then see if you can find my friend, Keri Bean. She’s a scientist who graduated from college with a Master’s degree and started working for NASA right away! She sometimes manages the whole day’s work for the DAWN team.
