Just a few more weeks here at the winter condo before I move back into my Alto and head out for a few months of camping and, hopefully, seeing the solar eclipse in early April. I’ve been enjoying the afternoon show, knowing that this view won’t be mine for much longer.
I can’t quite see sunset from my 10th-floor balcony so I make the most of the late afternoon light to take photos. After a string of clear blue sky afternoons, some wispy clouds showed up one day and scattered the sunlight across the sky.
Sometimes, the afternoon look is a harbinger of the next day’s weather. The photo above showed the fog starting to roll in, and when it showed up, it stayed for four whole days. My view during all that time was just gray and sometimes I could just hear the waves and not see them, despite my oceanfront location.
But, all things eventually clear and then my patience is rewarded with golden views like this. I do love the ocean. I’ve been so spoiled this winter, stepping onto my balcony several times a day to hear and small and see the beauty of the water and sky. Yes, I’m definitely a coastal person!
So beautiful, and glad that you could have this joy!
Thank you for sharing it. <3
Once in awhile I house sit for a friend who lives on a bluff on the shores of Lake Michigan, facing west. I do the same thing, constantly look outside, go outside and down the 40+ steps to the beach to take pictures of the changing water and sky. Up and down, up and down I run as the light changes. I am also so sad to leave when she comes home. I’m sure she’s used to it, but I can’t get anything done when I’m there because I’m mesmerized by the lake. I know you will miss it! But wasn’t it glorious to be there for a good solid piece of time!
How lovely, even in the poorest weather. I love being in Pacific Grove and watching whatever the ocean has to offer.
I am glad you have taken time to stay in one place for a few months – especially a place that has good weather . So far this winter in NH we have not had much snow but there have been wild wind storms and a great deal of damage along thhe coast from Maine to MA. Today we were to have a “big snow storm” – what we got was a “big fizzle”. A bit of wind, no snow, not even particularly cold so far. It is mid February so time enough for “real winter” to show up. Stay well.
