It wasn’t the luckiest of weeks to have the 52 Frames challenge be about Golden Hour… Golden Hour: the period of daytime shortly after sunrise or before sunset, during which daylight is redder and softer than when the sun is higher in the sky. I had exactly one non-raining day here in South Carolina that week. One day. And even that was pretty unspectacular so it was Lightroom to the rescue. The first image (below) was almost golden straight out of camera, but I did a little bit of accenting the colors in Lightroom, as well as cropping to emphasize…

9 Things to Do on a Rainy Day (Alto Version)
It’s been raining for what feels like years here in South Carolina. So rather than binge-watch yet another series of something on the iPad, I decided to see how many different things I could do in or around my Alto to pass the time today. 1. Reorganize the electronics stuff After a while, the cables and connectors and plugs take over the space in my bottom bin. Today, I sorted through them and realized that, no, I really didn’t need four USB-C to USB-C cables. Or three USB to micro-USB cables either. I also had time to take the plugs…
Sun Day
Yesterday was technically Tuesday but after more than a solid week of greyness, it was also Sun Day. As a native Southern Californian, I grew up thinking sunshine was my birthright. I get just a bit cranky when I don’t have it for more than 4 days in a row. 52 Frames: Horizon
Ah, the joy of a slam-dunk challenge, one where I am (finally) in the right place at the right time. With the beach a five minute walk away last week, the horizon was there for me 24/7. I took a lot of photos, on gloomy gray days, on bright sunny mornings, and late in the afternoon as the sun faded into the west. Here were my three finalists for the week’s challenge. I love the green of the ocean in this shot. The light was making the water change from light to dark depnding on where the clouds were, so…
Beach Walk
We’re in the middle of a pandemic, some of us locked down, others staying at home. Some just had a massive snowstorm, others had serious rains. We could all use a beach walk. So let’s go. The tide is almost all the way out, so there’s plenty of sand to walk on. But the sun seems to be struggling to escape the low clouds, so we might not get that gorgeous sunrise today. That’s OK, it will come another day. The rainstorm here yesterday stirred up the ocean a LOT so there are dozens and dozens of these sea stars…
