Every morning for the past week, this has been my view stepping outside my trailer. Man, sunrise on Monterey Bay just does NOT get old.
And this is the beach I walked on almost every day. Again, never gets old.
My campsite was on the bluff overlooking the beach, and this view is looking straight out from my picnic table. I did some playing around with HDR photography this week for a photo challenge, and liked how it played up the tones of the fragmites (those frond things) and deepened the overcast skies (thanks, Thomas Fire, for all that haze… not).
I did get one sunset sky in, although the sun technically sets behind where I could see it from my campsite. But again, that fire haze worked in my favor. (The cover photo at the top is the sun setting into the haze over Santa Cruz harbor on Tuesday.)
Below is today’s shot, last sunrise and last beach walk for this trip. Bye, beach 🙁
And to close out this scenic review of the week, here’s a fun shot of my trailer porthole reflecting the view.
Other than taking photos of the water and sun activity, I hung out with friends to the point of introvert crashing a few times, in bed by 8PM. But I loved every minute of it, and thank you to every person who I managed to catch up with and talk and laugh with this trip.
Today, I’m heading away from the coast and fire haze to Sequoia National Park. I have never actually been to Sequoia (or Kings Canyon), despite growing up in LA, so it is time to rectify that situation before sliding down towards LA next weekend.
Chase your dreams but always know the road that’ll lead you home again.
