One of my bucket list goals as a vagabond is to see all 50 of the National Parks in the continental US, and as many National Monuments (117) and National Historic Landmarks (over 2500 of them!) as I can. They are amazing windows into American history and values. Despite funding and staffing challenges, the National Park Service does a tremendous job preserving and protecting our national and historic heritage. I am so grateful for their work, as well as for the opportunity to see these places, one by one, and learn more about my native land.
