Ah, what a difference a week can make. I’m finally out of New Mexico after most of November spent there, and this week finds me trucking across Arizona to get to California where family and friends await.
I loved my long holiday weekend at City of Rocks, with long walks and…
starry skies once the moon had set. I let my eyes soak it up every night because such sights are not easy to come by in California, I know.
Desert plants are weird, but wonderful.
See, weird. But wonderful!
I moved on to Catalina State Park near Tucson, Arizona on Sunday, and met up with trailer buds for a fun happy hour and dinner gathering at my campsite. Great to put faces to the names I had only met through our Facebook group before!
Tuesday was a three hour drive of contrasts: from two-lane back roads to the 5-lane madness of I-10 through Phoenix. I survived and made it to White Tank Mountain Regional Park, where the views are wide open and the fighter jets fly overhead, which is pretty cool, as is hanging out with more Alto friends here.
By this time next week, I’ll be deep into California, so I’m enjoying Arizona while it lasts.
Oh, and I finished. It’s not the book draft I started out to write, but it’s definitely the draft I needed to write. Now comes the restructuring and revision phase, which may last for months or years, too soon to tell.
Achieving a goal is nothing. The getting there is everything.

The rock picture reminds me of Joshua National Park. The starry sky photo too. Congrats on winning the writing challenge. Looking forward to reading it someday.
Congrats on the win!!
