Today was a day for driving, I needed to think about some things, and driving always helps with that (I’m so LA despite not living there for decades…), so I headed northwest out of my campsite, bound for the scenic Route 4. It did not disappoint.
From Jemez north, Route 4 is a two-lane road through red canyons that are breathtaking. Every bend in the road brought a beautiful new view into range.
I could have looked at this view all day, I swear.
The Jemez River gave me a chance to practice my shutter speed.
Even the dead stands of trees on the mountainsides had a certain kind of beauty.
The dirt road from Route 4 to the Valles Caldera visitor center was worth the trip.
And as a bonus, I found one of the VLBA dishes near Bandelier; two down, eight to go. Now if I could just get closer… anyone know a Los Alamos Labs person who could get me into Tech Site 33?
Everything I was I carry with me, everything I will be lies waiting on the road ahead.
