The upside of celebrating New Year’s a few time zones early (somewhere between Greenland and Nova Scotia, virtually) is that I got a good night’s sleep and was up early enough to catch what sun we may see today.
Since it’s my last day in Morro Bay, I walked over to the Heron Rookery. A fence keeps the riff-raff away so a zoom lens or binoculars are the only ways to really see these blue herons high up in bare trees.
And now it’s time to go: pack up the trailer, break down the site, and drive away. But not before one last shot of Morro Rock. This is definitely a cool place to hang out: kayaking yesterday (the banner photo is from that adventure), good Mexican food with friends last night over in Los Osos, and lots of birds to watch wherever you turn.
And now we welcome the new year. Full of things that have never been.
