From a travel perspective, it was kind of a boring week as I spent 6 of 7 days in Death Valley. But let’s be absolutely clear about this part: Death Valley is NOT boring! It’s such an amazing place, with so much to see, that I was really sad to leave after 12 days, feeling like I was just getting to know the place.
I think I’ll spend much of December (where I will be in the very familiar territory of Santa Cruz county) working on images and posts about Death Valley. I have much to share, and just need the time to work through all the photos I’ve taken the last few weeks.
Tuesday was moving day over to the China Lake area, where my cousins are hosting me for the holiday weekend. I’m in charge of the stuffing, which is probably the easiest thing possible to make in a big turkey dinner.
We will avoid the whole Black Friday thing by hitting up the new Walmart today, and then hunker down for turkey, ham, pies, and family stories for the rest of the weekend.
Happy Thanksgiving to my fellow Americans, and have a good week to the rest of my readers!
In the end, though, maybe we must all give up trying to pay back the people in this world who sustain our lives. In the end, maybe it’s wiser to surrender before the miraculous scope of human generosity and to just keep saying thank you, forever and sincerely, for as long as we have voices.
