This is a great place to spend a week because it has a lot going on, despite the “not really near anything” look of it on the map. It’s less than an hour to Crater Lake or to Medford, so you can see beautiful nature or get your Walmart on, your pick. The Lost Creek Lake next to the park isn’t that interesting unless you’re a fisherperson, and even then the fly fishing is a bit south, below the dam that created the lake.
Way more cool are all the different spots along the Rogue River where you can see waterfalls, wide open vistas, and even the Rogue Gorge.
The campsites themselves are spaced far apart, with pretty level gravel pads. There are four loops, with A loop best for big rigs. This is the view from B loop (site B8) across towards C loop, and I am standing at the head of site B10.
Entrance to the park.
And if you want to walk to the end of the trail and across the bridge just north of the park, you can get a sunset view like this one.
