Finally, the last eastbound mile is done. I am in the hotel in Levis (St. Nicolas) and I only have 11 hours left before I get the keys to my new home. Wow, is this how nervous and sleepless people feel the day before buying their first home?
Had a lovely visit with two Alto friends, Marie and Pierre, and daughter Helene, but I was so excited to see them (and, yes, their Alto) that I literally did not take a single picture at all. I have failed at documenting the best meal of the trip and the best conversation in days! And, of course, an Alto visit 🙂
Then it was back in the car for the final two hours of eastbound driving. After a week and a half, I have made it. Drizzle most of the way, and I was so busy dreaming of Alto that I did not take many pictures. It turns out rural Quebec looks a lot like rural Ontario, which looks a lot like rural Michigan. Lots and lots of farmland.
All the way across the continent, I’ve played a little game with the mapping system on the Subaru, trying to make the stops not feel so far apart. I’d go point A to point B then point B to point C in a day, breaking the long distance up into chunks. And today I reached the final chunk, it all fit on one screen. I cannot express how happy this made me.
