Today was mostly about getting from Point A (Niagara Falls) to Point B (near Montreal) so that I’m well positioned for Sunday’s social events: a mid-morning meetup with virtual FB friends who have an Alto (and Marie is the goddess of internal Alto storage area measurements) and then a 3-hour drive up to St. Nicolas and dinner with another friend. After 7 days of solo traveling, I hope I remember how to make conversation that is more interesting than gas mileage stats and highway road signs.
What did I learn today? I learned where both my car’s fuse boxes are, and how to pull a fuse out and see that it’s blown. And where the spare fuses are hidden.
And then I learned that none of the three spare fuses are the right kind to replace the blown fuse. So it was off to the nearest Subaru dealer to get that sorted out. Why is this specific fuse so important? Because it’s for the 12V cigarette lighter, and that is exactly the thing required for the wireless rearview camera that Safari Condo is installing on Monday morning.
Got to the dealer and the service desk closed 54 minutes before I arrived. I went in and collared a nice sales guy, who quickly went back to the service area, and brought out a friendly service guy, who was impressed I had pulled the fuse and diagnosed the problem. He got me a new fuse, and, voila, we had power. And then he gave me a spare, just in case. I love Subaru.
Many, many hours later (with a wave to the CN Tower in Toronto off in the distance at one point), I was so bored I pulled off in Kingston and googled car washes. Figured Bella had her first kerfuffle today, she might like a nice bath. She looked great.
For about five minutes. Then the bugs swarmed us again as we got back on the highway. Sigh.
At least I got a great sunset sky to end the day on a good note.
Seulement 2 dodos till Alto!

Yah, what Bruce said. 🙂

Annie, you are so resourceful. Congrats on solving the fuse issue in fine style and with time to spare. Bella looked great and it never fails that a bird poops on my newly clean car, so maybe bugs are a smaller mess? Loved the sunset shot and the quote! So excited that you are picking up Breeze on Monday!!!!
